The political voice of Seattle business, for the first time, is endorsing candidates in three hard-fought contests for seats in the Washington State Legislature, all in solid-blue Democratic districts.
The Civic Alliance for a Sound Economy (CASE) said its choices in the 11th, 36th and 46th Districts are based on support for investment in education, a ?sustainable state budget,? and strategies to insure job growth in the Puget Sound area.

Sen. Scott White: His sudden death set in motion scramble for 46th District legislative seat.
In race with multiple Democrats, CASE has picked candidates with backgrounds in business and the non-profit sectors.? They are:
?Stephanie Bowman, running as a Democrat for an open seat in the 11th District, is a former Port of Tacoma manager who has recently worked in the non-profit sector.? Incumbent State Rep. Bob Hasegawa is running for the Washington State Senate.
?Brett Phillips and Gael Tarleton, both Democrats running for a open 36th District House seat.? Phillips heads the department of sustainability at Unico Properties.? Tarleton is a reformist, two-term Seattle Port Commissioner.? They and five other candidates are vying to succeed retiring State Rep. Mary Lou Dickerson.
?Sylvester Cann, in the 46th District, is challenging newly appointed State Rep. Gerry Pollet.? Cann, an education advocate, was chief aide to the late State Sen. Scott White.
After Scott White?s sudden death last fall, State Rep. David Frockt was picked to fill his Senate seat:? The 46th District Democrats endorsed Pollet, a longtime activist, over Cann.? White and Pollet fought a contentious race for the Legislature in 2008.
CASE was founded after the Alki Foundation, political voice of the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, was dissolved.
Tarleton, in the 36th, received another piece of good news on Wednesday.? She was endorsed by the liberal Metropolitan Democratic Club.
