It COULD count as cardio if the intensity is there. Cardio just means exercising to where the heart (cardiac muscle, hence, ?cardio?) is working harder than usual for a sustained period of time.
Whatever you do, start today. Just a little at a time.
A bit of dance and sit ups doesn?t really tell us enough. But here is a simple guideline:
Stretch daily to keep your body supple. Stretching also helps the internal organs.
The easiest approach to increasing the amount of calories you use is to exercise in any way you find fun, or at least tolerable, for 15 ? 20 mins with your heart rate fairly up. At 17, that means anywhere between 120 and 180 bpm (beats per minute). Start closer to the 120 end and work up so you are doing up to 30 minutes at a higher heart rate. That will maximize calorie use.
Don?t sweat it. That?s the worse thing you can do. Just do a little every day, starting today.
Yoga is also great but requires dedication and concentration. It tones but also burns, depending on the type of yoga. Find a REAL yoga teacher of a real yoga tradition, eg, Ashtanga. That is excellent for what you are seeking.
